A video of a Dallas man beaten by a large crowd has gone viral on Twitter after he allegedly threatened a black kid with a sword.

The video was originally uploaded by Elijah Schaffer, a reporter for Blaze TV who provided updates under the handle “Breaking Riot Updates-Blaze TV” for the city of Dallas, Texas. According to his report, the unidentified man apparently threatened a group of looters with a sword while trying to defend his store. Shortly after, the group started to attack him with a skateboard and used stones to cause further damage. He was taken to a nearby hospital with severe injuries but is in stable condition.

However, one of the witnesses to the incident said on Snapchat that the man “swung his sword at a black kid for skateboarding thinking he was gonna try and rob his store.”

Dallas Police spokesman Carlos Almeida said in a statement to Heavy that they have little information about the incident at this time:
“We are trying to obtain information, but have very little at this time. The victim was transported away before officers arrived. The call came in as a stabbing call at the House of Blues. I just learned he is in stable condition.”
