UPDATE: Police Identify 21-Year-Old Ahmad Al-Issa As Suspect In Boulder Shooting
The man behind the cruel Boulder King Soopers shooting has been identified as 21-year-old Ahmad Al-Issa of Arvada, about 20 miles south of Boulder. He has been charged with 10 counts of first-degree murder, police said on Tuesday.
In addition to naming the gunman, Boulder Police Chief Maris Harold also identified 10 slain victims, who range in age from 20 to 65, saying the last body was removed from the scene at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. It was noted that all of the victims’ family members were notified about two hours later. The victims have been identified as Denny Strong, 20; Neven Stanisic, 23; Rikki Olds, 25; Tralona Bartkowika, 49; Suzanne Fountain, 59; Teri Leiker, 51; Officer Eric Talley, 51; Kevin Mahoney, 61; Lynn Murray, 62; Jody Waters, 65.
The chief said with tears in her eyes,
“I want to say to the community, I am so sorry this incident happened. She added, “we are going to do everything in our power to make sure this suspect has a thorough trial and we do a thorough investigation.”
As of right now, investigators are still working to determine a motive.
