UPDATE: Bail Set At $500K For Ex-Cop Derek Chauvin Who Killed George Floyd
As we previously reported on Friday, former Minneapolis Officer Derek Chauvin was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter after killing George Floyd.
CNN has managed to obtain documents which state that Chauvin’s bail has been set for at $500,000, according to the criminal complaint filed in the 4th Judicial District Court of Minnesota.
The news site notes that there have been no conditions set for his release yet. The document doesn’t indicate that Chauvin is out on bail, but it does say that if he does bond out, bail is set for $500,000.
As we previously reported, Chauvin was seen on camera detaining George Floyd for suspicion of forgery. During the arrest, he pinned him down to the ground and places his knee of Floyd’s neck. The 46-year-old lost consciousness and later died at a local hospital.
Since then many people have been demanding justice for Floyd by protesting all over the country.
