Dana White, UFC President and CEO, has condemned his fighter Josh Hokit and his “nasty and false” insult, in which he called former First Lady Michelle Obama “a man.”
Donald Trump Turns White House Into A Circus With Nitro Circus Motocross Event And UFC Freedom 250 MMA Bout
On Sunday (June 14), President Donald Trump hosted the “UFC Freedom 250” event on the White House South Lawn. The MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) spectacle — held on Flag Day as one of the many events to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary — landed on Trump’s 80th birthday.
A day before, Trump and his administration hosted the Nitro Circus as six motocross athletes made history jumping and backflipping their dirt bikes across the White House South Lawn. On Saturday (June 13), Jeremy McGrath (the King of Supercross) joined Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, Brian Deegan, Keith Sayers, Ricky Carmichael, and Travis Pastrana — who performed a BMX backflip over the White House South Lawn.
After the six American motocrossers made history, Trump and his administration continued to make history by hosting a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) event on the same White House South Lawn.
On Sunday (June 14), the “UFC Freedom 250” event held several cards. This included: Diego Lopes vs. Steve Garcia; Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus; Mauricio Ruffy vs. Michael Chandler; Sean O’Malley vs. Aiemann Zahabi; Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane; Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje; and Josh Hokit vs. Derrick Lewis.
UFC President And CEO Dana White Condemns Fighter Josh Hokit’s Comments About Michelle Obama
After Josh Hokit secured a technical knockout victory over veteran fighter Derrick Lewis, he turned his historic moment into a bashing session. As host Joe Rogan held the microphone in front of Hokit, he grabbed onto the mic and said:
“Hey, shout out to Trump, for having the b*lls to put some sh*t like this on. And if I’m gonna say anything, there’s only one person more incredible than the Incredible Hulk and that’s y Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ … And lastly, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?”
Rogan kept his smile on his face, and continued to speak, “Ladies and gentlemen, Josh Hokit.” While the White House refuses to comment on the incident, video of President Donald Trump has gone viral, showing him smiling after Hokit’s comments.
Meanwhile, UFC President and CEO Dana White has condemned Hokit’s Michelle Obama comment. In a text message to Time Magazine, White wrote:
“I understand that the Obamas are public figures but I’m completely against saying nasty and false things about people’s families. Everyone knows my position on free speech but I hate that kind of nonsense.”
Additionally, Time reports that White isn’t much of a Hokit fan and that he wasn’t even supposed to be fighting during the “UFC Freedom 250” event. During Miami’s UFC 327 event in April, Trump asked White why Derrick Lewis, who Trump admires, wasn’t on the original lineup for the White House spectacle.
White immediately added Lewis and had to quickly then find him an opponent. Since Hokit had just defeated Curtis Blaydes, White acknowledged his talents, pushed aside his feelings and concerns about his behavior, and matched him with Lewis for the Washington, D.C. card.
