The U.S. Embassy in Russia has issued a warning for Americans to consider immediately leaving the country quickly amid the invasion of Ukraine.

The embassy also warned there are a limited number of flights exiting and entering Russia due to the invasion. “An increasing number of airlines are canceling flights into and out of Russia, and numerous countries have closed their airspace to Russian airlines. U.S. citizens should consider departing Russia immediately via commercial options still available,” the statement reads.
Continued, “The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that the Department of State’s Travel Advisory level for Russia is at ‘Level 4: Do Not Travel,'”

Travelers were also warned not to travel to Russia due to the ongoing conflict and potential harassment of U.S. citizens in addition to the embassy’s limited power to assist Americans in the country.
“Do not travel to Russia due to ongoing tension along the border with Ukraine, the potential for harassment against U.S. citizens, the embassy’s limited ability to assist U.S. citizens in Russia, COVID-19 and related entry restrictions, terrorism, harassment by Russian government security officials and the arbitrary enforcement of local law.”
They were also warned to carry proper identification and notify their families and friends about their whereabouts for safety reasons.
