Karen Hinton who worked as a press aide said she experienced sexual harassment from Cuomo at a Los Angeles hotel room in December 2000. She says the New York governor held her in a “too tight, and too intimate” embrace and said she pulled away when she assumed it could lead to a kiss. According to the New York Post, this incident happened when Cuomo was the head of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

However, Cuomo’s director of communications Peter Ajemian has called Hinton an “antagonist” and said she’s taking advantage of the current situation the governor is facing.“Karen Hinton is a known antagonist of the Governor’s who is attempting to take advantage of this moment to score cheap points with made-up allegations from 21 years ago. All women have the right to come forward and tell their story — however, it’s also the responsibility of the press to consider self-motivation. This is reckless,” he exclaimed.
