Duane Keefe D the suspect who is being accused of orchestrating the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur has pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Thursday.
As we previously reported, Keefe D wasn’t able to obtain his own lawyer and was appointed a public defender and waived his right to a speedy trial. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 7.

According to AP, Keefe D was charged with murder with use of deadly weapon. A grand jury in Las Vegas indicted him in the killing, according to prosecutors. Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo said a grand jury had been seated in the case for “several months.” DiGiacomo described Davis as the “on-ground, on-site commander” who “ordered the death” of Shakur.
These charges were revealed hours after the initial report that Keefe D was taken into custody. As we previously reported, Keefe D has publicly done interviews where he admitted to being in the car that shot bullets into the vehicle that Suge Knight was driving with Tupac in the passenger seat in 1996. He also spoke about the murder in his 2019 tell-all memoir, “Compton Street Legend.” This arrest now comes two months after police raided his wife’s home on July 17th. The house that was raided is owed by Paula Clemons who is the wife of the former crip, Keefe D. In serval videos on YouTube Keefe D can be heard claiming to be the uncle of Orlando Anderson who people have suspected to be Tupac’s killer for years.

Orlando Anderson was a member of the Southside Crips, a street gang based in Compton, California. He is known for his alleged involvement in the events leading up to the murder of Tupac Shakur. On the night of September 7, 1996, Tupac Shakur was involved in a physical altercation at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, which was captured on surveillance cameras. After leaving the hotel, Tupac and his entourage were driving in a car when they were shot at in a drive-by shooting. Tupac was hit multiple times and died six days later from his injuries.
