The Bradfords were just seven months into the pregnancy when New York took the title against the Spurs, and they didn’t yet know if they were having a boy or a girl. Once the baby’s sex was confirmed, things moved fast.

According to ABC7NY, mom pitched Knickson as a tribute to the long awaited championship, and two days later the family landed on Fyve for the middle name. So if you say it out loud, it sounds like “Knicks in five.” As many are aware, that’s m  the number of games it took to beat the Spurs in the Finals. Folks across the city were weighing names like Jalen or Karl after the team’s 2026 Finals victory. Those are solid choices. According to Today, the baby’s father, Vance, comes from a long line of die hard Knicks supporters, and his mother, Sydell Johnson, was the team’s scorekeeper the last time New York won a championship in 1973. So this isn’t a bandwagon baby. This is a kid whose family was literally keeping the books the last time the Garden went crazy.

Now what happens if Knickson Fyve grows up and starts rooting for somebody else? Well, has the perfect answer: “Knickson Fyve forever!” He joked. The Bradfords aren’t alone in the baby-name rush, either. After the clincher, some fans celebrated from hospital rooms with newborns named after Knicks stars.
