Last week, Kim Richardson, a 63-year-old Dallas, Texas woman, was sentenced to 4.5 years in a federal prison for a 19-year operation of shoplifting and selling stolen goods online.

In December 2019, Richardson pleaded guilty to the crimes and was ordered to serve 54 months in the feds, plus serve an additional three years of supervised release, and pay $3.8 million in restitution.

The takedown occurred after a discovery from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Secret Service, which found that Richardson shoplifted items as she traveled the country between August 2000 and April 2019. Richardson would sell the stolen goods via eBay and direct online sales; use FedEx, UPS and standard mail for shipping; and had received an estimated $3.8 million from buyers through four different PayPal accounts.

Amid her sentencing, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas stated that Richardson would be allowed to remain on bond and voluntarily surrender to  a Bureau of Prisons facility.
