A Texas teen was arrested and charged with the death of his newborn son. Authorities said he committed the act to avoid paying for child support.

17-year-old Caleb Blake Brown and the baby’s mother to a hospital after noticing three-week-old Emerson Ziesmer appeared to be pale, He also had bruises on his stomach and later died from his injuries after being transferred to the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas in early August.
Carrollton authorities said the infant’s autopsy revealed he had multiple displaced ribs and a torn liver. During their investigation, detectives said Brown was upset at his son’s mother for keeping the baby and had concerns about paying for child support.

He confessed to police that he squeezed the baby then threw him into the air, causing the infant to hit a ceiling fan.
“According to the probable cause affidavit for his arrest warrant, Brown stated that while he was alone with the infant on the afternoon of August 9, he squeezed and repeatedly threw him in the air, eventually hitting the ceiling fan,” the police statement reads.
He is currently being held at the Denton County Jail where his bond has not been set.
