A Georgia mother says her daughter was issued several charges for throwing a bag of Cheetos at a crowd during a basketball game in January.

CBS46 reports Banneker High School senior Jasmine Harper,17, was captured on video throwing a bag of Cheetos during a South Atlanta vs. Hapeville High School on Jan.10. The teen says she only threw the snack in the air and it didn’t injure any of the attendees. However, an Atlanta Public Schools officer said Harper violated the district’s Code of Conduct and issued her a ticket. She was charged with simple battery and disrupting the school at the request of the victim.

Harper’s mother, Sharon Wortham, says she is concerned about her daughter’s future due to the nature of the charges:

“If a job you are looking at pulls your criminal history, all they are going to see is an arrest record. They are gonna see a copy of charges. “They aren’t going to ask any questions.. and you won’t get that job, or you won’t get into that school.. or you won’t get anywhere you are trying to go.”

A statement was issued by Atlanta Public School spokesman Ian Smith:

“The safety and security of our students, staff and visitors remains a top priority in APS, and our code of conduct prohibits acts of violence of any sort on district property.”

A court date has yet to be scheduled for Jasmine.
