18-year-old Zachary Latham fatally stabbed William Durham, Sr., 51, in May after two years of continuous feuding between due to his reckless driving. The Durham’s lawyer argued that Latham instigated each altercation and filmed it to become viral on the popular social media platform TikTok. The family claimed Latham lured them to enter his home and came outside with a stun gun and a knife. The confrontation started between Latham and Durham’s wife and sons as his wife Sarah recorded the fight for TikTok.

Their letter to NJ.com reads, “Sarah was recording because it was her and Latham’s intent to post these videos to TikTok and become ‘TikTok famous. If Latham was in fear for his or Sarah’s safety, they both would have retreated inside, called the police, and stayed there. They did not because their intent was to lure the Durhams there, attack them, and record it for TikTok.” As for Latham, he is claiming he committed the stabbing in self-defense.

Additionally, the Durhams have filed multiple complaints against the Lathams to the Vineland Police Department but nothing had transpired before William, Sr’s murder. Catherine Durham was charged with criminal trespass and simple assault while her sons were hit with similar charges.
Latham is due back in court on August 20 for pre-indictment heating and he is banned from the neighborhood.
