Target Paying Employees To Get Vaccinated, Offering Free Lyfts To Appointments

While joining other retailers, like Dollar General, Target is now paying its employees to get vaccinated, and are evening going as far as offering free Lyfts to all appointments. However, at this time the company isn’t requiring vaccination for employees to work.

As inmates in Massachusetts receive shorter sentences for getting their two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, Target, and its grocery-delivery service Shipt, are giving its employees paid time off, two hours for each dose, plus a free ride, up to $15 each way to their appointments.

On Wednesday (Feb. 10), the Minneapolis, MN-headquartered retailer made the announcement. The company’s chief human resources officer Melissa Kremer said, “As more vaccines become available, especially for front-line and essential workers, we’ll help our team members across the country get the information and access they need. As we have for the past year, we’ll continue to invest in our team’s pay and benefits so they can take care of themselves, each other and our guests.”
