Substitute School Cafeteria Worker Busted For Allegedly Selling Marijuana Brownies To Students

It is reported that 45-year-old Cohns, who temporarily worked as a cafeteria staffer at Jewel M. Sumner High School, was arrested on Friday (January 20) after being accused of selling homemade baked goods laced with some mary jane.

According to Chief Jimmy Travis with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana, law enforcement officials were first notified about the crime through a Crime Stoppers app.

The report, submitted by a high school student, said a cafeteria worker was allegedly selling homemade edibles to high school students.

According to Sheriff’s deputies, Cohns was working at the high school in Kentwood at the time of her arrest, but she was not an employee of the Tangipahoa Parish School System.

Cohns has since been charged with possession and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone.

Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Melissa Stilley has since spoken out about the temporary high school cafeteria worker being busted for the alleged incident.

She said, “I want to commend this student who saw something and used the P3 app to bring this threat to the attention of our school officials and law enforcement. The safety of our students is of the utmost importance to our school system. We encourage using the P3 app to report anything they feel threatens their ability to learn in a safe environment.”

Stilley says Cohns was a substitute worker hired by a staffing service, called ESS, which is used to send fill-in employees to schools needing additional help.
