According to KMOV4, St.Louis Police reported that the truck was forced off of Interstate 70 due to the number of protestors on the street. The driver got off onto North Broadway and stopped when he approached more protestors. The video clip shows the protestors surrounding the vehicle and climbing onto the passenger side. Two people who were standing on the footboard of the truck had their guns pointing at the driver.

Looters were spotted stealing packages from the truck and the driver started to drive off. Witness Jared Arms said one of the men was stuck after the truck took off and was trapped under the tire. He says “With the video, you can clearly see the people at the doors are only going up because they were trying to tell him somebody was stuck not to open it and try to beat him up and things like that,”

The unidentified man was dragged by the truck seconds later and protestors attempted to stop him but it was too late. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.

FedEx released a statement after receiving news of the incident:

“Our hearts go out to all those who are grieving the events of this week. We are deeply saddened to learn of a tragic situation involving a demonstrator in St. Louis and one of our vehicles.  We offer our sincerest condolences to the family of the individual involved. There is no higher priority for FedEx than safety, and we are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities at this time.”
