Spanish Politician Offers To Resign After Leaving Camera On While Showering During Meeting
Spanish politician Bernardo Bustillo has offered to resign after he was accidentally caught on camera showering during a city meeting. Bustillo, a municipal councilor, seemingly tried to kill two birds with one stone as he and about a dozen other officials in Torrelavega, Spain gathered to discuss the coronavirus pandemic; with journalists and residents watching the stream remotely.
As the meeting ran into the afternoon, cutting into his time to get ready to take his daughter to a prior commitment, he decided to take the computer into the bathroom, minimizing the screen, but forgetting to turn the camera off. His colleagues attempted to warn him about his camera during the meeting, and some calling his phone, but with the water running, he heard nothing. Ultimately, the mayor prematurely ended the meeting over the incident.

Responding to his epic fail of a moment going viral, Bustillo apologized, stating, “Anecdotes of this kind have become commonplace in recent weeks, thanks to the boom in teleworking.” In addition, he offered to resign, claiming, he “can’t help but regret the end of my political life.”
Bustillo add that his experience as a swim instructor allows him to feel no embarrassment with his body. He says, “I’ve spent half of my life half-naked and have never been ashamed of nudity, whether my own or that of others.”
