If you’re an AT&T customer who woke up this morning with your phone acting up, just know you’re not alone!
Thousands of customers have been left without service due to some unexplained outage. Of course, in this digital age where connectivity is key, the recent massive outage experienced by AT&T has sent shockwaves through social media platforms.
Customers were left frustrated and stranded as the network outage disrupted their ability to make calls, send texts, and access the internet. The ripple effect was felt not only by AT&T users but also by some Verizon and T-Mobile customers who reported network outages of their own. According to reports from DownDetector, over 31,000 AT&T customers voiced their outage concerns, with numbers peaking in the early hours of the morning and resurging later on. Despite the widespread disruptions, AT&T has not yet addressed the matter.

This recent incident adds to a series of sporadic outages that AT&T has faced in recent days, including a temporary 911 outage in certain regions of the southeastern United States, according to CNN. Although the lack of transparency from the company has only fueled frustration among customers seeking answers and solutions, others are waiting patiently as they assume AT&T is trying to get to the bottom of this.
Notably, Verizon and T-Mobile customers also experienced around 1,000 outages on the same morning, as reported on DownDetector. Similar to AT&T, both companies were slow to respond to requests for comments, leaving users in the dark about the extent of the service disruptions.
Meanwhile, San Francisco’s Department of Emergency Management released a statement on X this Thursday morning that its 911 center remained operational, but many AT&T customers were unable to reach the emergency line due to the outage.
“We are aware of an issue impacting AT&T wireless customers from making and receiving any phone calls (including to 911),” the department said in its post. “We are actively engaged and monitoring this.”
Meanwhile, the uncertainty surrounding the outage has prompted a flurry of reactions on social media platforms, with users expressing their concerns, frustrations, and even humor in response to the situation. Memes, jokes, and complaints flooded timelines as people shared their experiences and sought solace in the virtual community. Here’s what some have been saying:
