A man is currently off the streets and in police custody for committing a disturbing and horrific crime.
According to the New Post citing local news station WSMV, a man was arrested over the weekend after police in Nashville, Tennessee said he raped a woman while she fed her baby at a park.
The man behind the crime has been identified as Ryean L. Floyd, 24. The news site notes that Floyd and the woman, who knew each other, met in Shelby Park Thursday evening along with the child, according to the police document obtained by WSMV. When it got late, the victim went to her car, but before leaving, she began to feed her child. That’s when Floyd allegedly lifted the woman’s skirt and forcibly raped her, according to the arrest report. It was said that the woman was pleading for the suspect to stop all while the baby was crying at the same time. The news site notes audio recording captured the five-minute attack, police said.
The victim was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital for medical attention and to be treated. Meanwhile, Floyd was charged with aggravated rape and aggravated kidnapping, per jail records.
WSMV notes he remains in the Metro Jail on a $65,000 bond. his next court date is scheduled for June 12.
As wild as this all sounds, residents say they don’t find this situation to be all that shocking because the park often has sketchy people in it.
Monique Becker who brings her two-year-old son there every week told the outlet, “I always lock my doors and stay alert,” Becker said. “Monitor who is around me. I don’t let people get too close. Like 10 feet and then I start looking behind me and start thinking of contingency plans should they do anything that’s in my bubble.”
Grayson Perkins added, “I’ve come out here several times and always felt very safe,” he said. “This whole community feels very safe. You see kids walking to school, you see women jogging at night. I think it is a travesty what happened.”
This latest incident comes a month after Miami police arrested a man who was accused of raping a woman in the parking lot of a Miami bus station, authorities said. The man behind that crime was identified as 20-year-old Clarens Braynen. Cop were able to nab him after following up on a Crime Stoppers tip.
Braynen is facing charges of sexual battery and kidnapping. Meanwhile the victim sustained injuries to the left side of her jaw and cuts on her lips during the incident as she immediately fought back.
Court records show Braynen was booked into jail where he was being held without bond.
