Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans following an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras festivities.
According to NBC News, the New Orleans Police Department said in a statement that LaBeouf was removed from a business on Royal Street early Tuesday morning after reportedly causing a disturbance. “Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf, who used his closed fists on the victim several times,” an official said.
Police Say Situation Escalated Outside the Venue
Authorities added that the victim told officers LaBeouf initially walked away but then returned and acted “even more aggressively.” He allegedly attacked another individual before other attendees restrained him.
“LaBeouf then reportedly assaulted another person — punching him in the nose,”
Officers responded to the scene and took the 39-year-old actor into custody. Police said he was transported to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries before being formally arrested.
LaBeouf was charged with two counts of simple battery. Officials have not released additional details about what led to the incident.
The case remains under investigation.
