Despite being one of the most-followed celebrities on Instagram, Selena Gomez wasn’t actually doing the posting on her page for the past five years — yes, years! It was only last month when the “Hands To Myself” singer said she was giving Instagram another chance by uploading her first photo without her team’s assistance. In a recent interview, the 30-year-old opened up on her decision to step away from IG, revealing that she had come across so many negative comments about herself that it really began to take a toll on her mental well-being.
The Disney alum further mentioned that after going through a hard breakup, people felt it was okay to draw comparisons between her and the new woman in her ex’s life. Fans on social media believe that the remark was more than likely aimed at her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Baldwin, as she said, “I went through a hard time in a breakup and I didn’t want to see any of the [feedback]—not necessarily about the relationship, but the opinions of me versus [someone] else.”
to finish, that’s what actually happened and the most curious thing is that Hailey quickly deleted this video in which Justine and Kendall were, who also don’t like Selena pic.twitter.com/zSW6eyUiq3

Gomez said that while she can deal with comments from trolls calling her “ugly” or “stupid,” the same couldn’t be said when she’d receive detailed paragraphs that were filled with hatred and vile remarks. “They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety…I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time.”
While Gomez shares a love-hate relationship with Instagram, she did admit that TikTok has been an app she hasn’t felt the need to stay away from over the years because she describes the platform as being “less hostile.”
The pop star also let it be known that she doesn’t see most of the negative stuff that’s sent her way because she now has certain phrases and words filtered out so that when she does want to use the app, she doesn’t have to see it.

It was just a few months back when Bieber’s wife sat down for an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast as she attempted to clear the air by stressing that people have almost divided her and Gomez from one another simply based on the drama that constantly ensues when their names are brought up on social media.
“That’s why I’m like, it’s all respect. It’s all love. That’s also why I feel like if everybody on our side knows what happened and we’re good and we could walk away from it with clarity and respect, then, like, that’s fine.”
