Seattle Police Arrest 32 As They Regain Control of East Precinct In CHAZ
The Seattle Police Department have arrested at least 32 people as they regain control of their East Precinct located in the middle of CHAZ, Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, formerly CHOP, Capitol Hill Occupied Protest — the area protestors took over and made police-free three weeks ago.
The Wednesday morning arrests arrive after Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan issued a 48-hour executive order for protestors to vacate the area over ongoing violence and public safety issues that have occurred around the East Precinct and Cal Anderson Park regions; including two fatal shootings, resulting in the deaths of two teens and a few injured.

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best stated, “The CHOP has become lawless and brutal.” She adds, “This is not an end to our department’s engagement with demonstrators. We must continue our efforts to build trust and redefine our roles as guardians in our city.”
