Ryan Newman Walks Out Of Hospital 2 Days After Horrific Daytona 500 Crash

NASCAR driver Ryan Newman has been released  from the hospital just two days after his terrifying crash during the final lap of the Daytona 500.

Monday (Feb. 17), the 42-year-old was leading the race, until he was hit from behind, causing him to crash his car into the outer wall, spin out, flip over, and skid across the finish line on its roof, and even catching fire. He was rushed to the ER in serious condition.

On Wednesday (Feb. 19), he was released after being treated for serious injuries. He was able to walk by himself, all while wearing a smile and holding the hands of his two daughters on each side of him.

Ahead of his release, Roush Fenway updated, “Ryan Newman continues to show great improvement after Monday night’s last-lap accident at Daytona International Speedway.”

Adding, “The veteran driver is fully alert and walking around Halifax Medical Center. True to his jovial nature, he has also been joking with staff, friends and family while spending time playing with his two daughters.”

Furthermore, following the accident, four-time NASCAR champion and Fox NASCAR announcer Jeff Gordon stated, “Safety has come a long way in this sport. But sometimes we are reminded that it is a very dangerous sport.”
