NASCAR Updates: Ryan Newman In Serious Condition After Horrific Crash

NASCAR has released a statement updating fans about the horrific Daytona 500 crash involving driver Ryan Newman, whom they say is in serious condition.

While leading the race, Newman, 42, wrecked in the final lap and slid across the finish line with his car flipped upside down, banged up all around, and engulfed in flames.

NASCAR released a statement updating, “Ryan Newman is being treated at Halifax Medical Center. He is in serious condition, but doctors have indicated his injuries are not life threatening. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and ask that you respect the privacy of Ryan and his family during this time.”

They concluded, “We appreciate your patience and cooperation and we will provide more information as it becomes available.”

Though Newman was in the lead, Denny Hamlin ended up winning the race for the second straight year; becoming his third Daytona 500 win.

He stated after his victory, “I think we take for granted sometimes how safe the cars are and number one, we are praying for Ryan.”
