Report States Coronavirus Can Spread 13 Feet In Air & Travels On Shoes
According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Coronavirus can spread through the air for st 13 feet, which is more than twice the 6 feet social distancing guidelines.
The Emerging Infectious Diseases journal notes that the virus can spread much further than initially reported and that it can also spread from people’s shoes.

“The aerosol distribution characteristics … indicate that the transmission distance of [COVID-19] might be 4 m,” the report notes.
“Furthermore, half of the samples from the soles of the ICU medical staff shoes tested positive.” The samples came from Huoshenshan Hospital in Wuhan.“Therefore, the soles of medical staff shoes might function as carriers.”
The report also notes that highly touched surfaces such as computers, trash cans and bed rails showed high levels of the virus.
However, the World Health Organization has also noted the risk for aerosolized transmission is not the biggest threat for the majority of people, as primary transmission occurs from droplets.
U.S. health officials have advised the public to wear masks or face coverings when out in public to reduce the risks of spreading the virus.
