Princess Cruise Lines Slapped With More Lawsuits By Coronavirus Quarantined Passengers

After being kept on the ocean for days on end amid the coronavirus pandemic, more lawsuits are surfacing from quarantined passengers against Princess Cruise Lines (PCL).

In addition to the quarantined passengers from the Diamond Princess ship — which was quarantined off the coast of Japan — 3 more former passengers, Jeffrey and Anabel Jones, and Eddy Castellanos, from the Grand Princess ship, have sued PCL for at least $1 million in damages over gross negligence.

The plaintiffs claim that the company allowed them to travel their ship, while knowing its passengers would be exposed to the novel virus. They argue that the Diamond was quarantined outside of Japan before the Grand even set sail from San Francisco; which they were then stuck on for a week in the Bay Area waters.

Since the company knew of the situation on its Diamond ship, the plaintiffs claim they should have better handled that regarding the Grand.

Countering back, the company claims they sent emails to former PCL passengers on February 25 to inform them of any risks of infection; however, the plaintiffs say they never received anything.

In the suit, the plaintiffs claim, “[PCL] chose to place profits over the safety of its passengers, crew and the general public in continuing to operate business as usual.”
