Lionel Richie has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit following his performance in St. Louis, Missouri, this past Saturday.
According to TMZ, the 77-year-old singer checked himself into a local hospital for testing, with doctors currently investigating the possibility of slight dehydration. Witnesses at the St. Louis concert noted that the American Idol judge appeared to be struggling during his set, even asking for a chair while performing his final song, “All Night Long.”

This recent health scare follows a difficult summer for the four-time Grammy winner. Back in June, Richie was forced to abruptly end his concert during the opening night of his 26-city North American tour at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota. Online videos from that night showed Richie—who is co-headlining with Earth, Wind & Fire—visibly struggling and sitting down multiple times while singing “Dancing on the Ceiling.”
“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” Richie told the crowd at the time.

After attempting to push through with a brief intermission, the show was ultimately canceled, with saxophonist Dino Soldo announcing that Richie was “not feeling well.” The singer subsequently postponed two additional shows in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio.
At the time, Richie had reassured his fans in an Instagram post, writing, “Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.”
