Former president Joe Biden, 82, has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer. It’s noted that a “small nodule” was found during a medical checkup and the disease has spread to his bones.
CNN reports that a statement from his personal office was released on Sunday May 18). The statement reads:
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

The statement continued:
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”
Furthermore, Biden and his family “are reviewing treatment options with his physicians,” according to the statement.
The news arrives days after a spokesperson for Joe Biden announced that the former POTUS was recently evaluated for a “small nodule” discovered on his prostate. As we previously reported, doctors said Biden would be undergoing “further evaluation” after making the discovery during his recent medical checkup on May 9 at hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
A spokesperson for Biden told ABC News:
“In a routine physical exam a small nodule was found in the prostate which necessitated further evaluation.”

Current president Donald Trump eventually spoke out on former president Joe Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis. In a post on Truth Social, he wrote:
“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill [Biden] and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
Urologist Says ‘Prostate Cancer Is Very Common In Aging Men’
Speaking with CNN, Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt — a urologist and robotic surgeon with Orlando Health and an assistant professor at the University of Central Florida’s College of Medicine, who is not involved in Biden’s treatment — said:
“Prostate cancer is very common. As we get older, most men are going to have little cancer cells in them.”
