Pop Smoke Was Reportedly Worried About Gang Members Days Before Murder

As we previously reported, rapper Pop Smoke was gunned down in his Hollywood Hills home on Tuesday. At first, it was reported that it was a robbery gone wrong. However, it was later revealed that Pop Smoke’s murder now appears to be a targeted hit based on accounts by those who saw surveillance footage from outside his house where he was shot to death.

While close sources suggest that gang members may behind this, TMZ now shares that the New York rapper had concerns about them coming after him just days before the tragic incident. The news site pointed out that Pop had canceled his scheduled show at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn last Sunday night, and took to Instagram just before the show to let fans know he wasn’t coming out. Pop had explained in an IG post, “Unfortunately NYPD wouldn’t let me perform.”

However, law enforcement sources tell TMZ that it wasn’t the NYPD that shut the concert down. Instead, the decision was made by Pop himself, according to cops. Apparently, the rapper thought it was the best decision since he was out on bail in a federal car theft case and was ordered to stay away from gang members.
