Pastor Jamal Bryant is calling out Christians who have renounced their Divine Nine (D9) fraternity and sorority affiliations, but still have yet to renounce President Donald Trump and his policies. Pastor Bryant let these “tap-dancing negroes” have it during worship on Sunday (October 18) at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, in metro Atlanta, GA.

The criticism arrived mid a years-long wave of members renouncing their Black Greek letters in videos across all social media platforms. Many have argued that their organizations’ oaths, rituals, and demands for loyalty go against their Christian beliefs and faith.

However, the renunciation trend has caused a divide in Black churches, resulting in Pastor Bryant now speaking out. While sharing Sunday’s sermon, with a message of “I Renounce,” Pastor Bryant said:

“You gotta stay in the fight. Quitting is not an option for you. Resignation is not an option for you. You gotta stay in the fight. There are people who are depending on you.”

Later in his sermon, he said if the former D9 fraternity and sorority members had the gull to publicly walk away from their greek letters in the name of faith, why aren’t their convictions strong enough to make them speak out against President Trump?

Bryant slammed the former members of the Black Greek-letter organizations who have “put down their colors” and “thrown away their paraphernalia.” He fired off:

“You have a right to do so in this nation and under the doctrine of free will. In no means am I asking you to rejoin. Stay over there.”

He continued to demand to know:

“I want to ask how you renounced your D9 affiliation, but you have not found enough Holy Ghost conviction or discernment to renounce not one Trump policy. Trump ask people to pledge allegiance to him and none of you tap-dancing negroes renounce that or ask anybody else to renounce him.”
