Plaintiffs argue that Novo Nordisk, which manufactured the GLP-1 receptor agonist, failed to adequately warn consumers and healthcare providers about these risks, despite mounting evidence shown in adverse event reports and clinical studies.

According to reports, as of August 2025, at least 1,809 lawsuits have been filed against Ozempic. The lawsuits also include other Semaglutide brands like Wegovy and Rybelsus. Additionally, Mounjaro (Tirzepatide, also used to lower A1C) and Trulicity (Dulaglutide, used to treat type 2 diabetes) are also under investigation, with their manufacturer Eli Lilly facing lawsuits.

Subsequently, the hundreds of cases (against all five brand names) have been consolidated into MDL No. 3094 in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Hundreds more are expected.
