Perry shared a selfie from September and told his 6.4 million followers that he took this picture around his 52nd birthday. He added, “I was killing it in the gym. Right after that I tore my meniscus and was told I needed surgery. I’ve gained about 12 lbs since then. I was so close to my goal, but now I feel like I’m starting over. All of that to say, sometimes life will set you back, but as long as you have a breath in your body, you have to keep fighting. I’ll get it back when I recover. Happy New Year! Let’s get after it in 2022. Who’s with me?” Perry added the hashtag #willsmiththebestshapeofmylife.
As we previously reported, fellow actor Will Smith started the “Dad Bod Challenge” after saying he was in the worst shape of his life back in May. Will Smith posted an Instagram video showing his body transformation progress.
Smith has been regularly posting his own workout moves on Instagram and YouTube over the last six months, as well as clips of others following his trend.
