As we previously reported, Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was fatally shot in the head and torso while at a private party in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 1, 2022. He was just 28 years old. Offset has been trying his best to stay positive despite losing his beloved family member.

While Offset hasn’t really spoken much about the devastating passing of Takeoff as he’s still trying to grieve, he did share a public post that explained that his “heart is shattered” and the pain is “unbearable” since he’s been gone.

“The pain you have left me with is unbearable,” the rapper wrote on Instagram last November. “My heart is shattered and I have so many things to say, but I can’t find the words. I’ve been going to sleep and waking up hoping that all of this is a dream, but it’s reality, and reality feels like a nightmare.” He continued, “I know someone with a soul like yours is in heaven now,” he added. “I hope you can see how much we love you and miss you. You have left a hole in my heart that will never be filled.”

Offset’s wife Cardi B detailed the moment he received the shattering news of Takeoff. While appearing on the Jason Lee Show at the beginning of the year, Cardi recalled how she and Offset were initially planning to attend LaLa Anthony’s Halloween party but ultimately changed their mind and decided to stay at home after daughter Kulture vomited on her outfit for the festive occasion.

She said at some point during the night while they were asleep, both of their phones kept ringing. “Offset picked up the phone, and he’s just like, ‘No!’ He’s screaming and screaming, ‘No, no, no!’ And I’m like ‘What’s going on?’ And he was like, ‘Takeoff is dead.’”

“‘Don’t say that,’” Cardi told Offset, clearly in disbelief of what she’d just been told. “He’s just screaming and just throwing things, throwing up, running all over. I was just so scared, I was just crying so much.”

The man accused of killing TakeOff has been identified as Patrick Xavier Clark. He was arrested on Dec. 1 on a murder charge. His attorney, Letitia Quinones, said at the time that Clark had a “valid and meritorious claim for self-defense.”

As a result of posting a $1M bond, Clark was released under conditions: he has to stay under house arrest and must wear a GPS tracking device. In addition to that, he must avoid contact with anyone involved in the shooting investigation. Quinones said Clark will comply fully with the conditions of his release.
