Second Victim In Shooting That Killed Rapper TakeOff Speaks Out For The First Time

The woman who was also struck by a bullet during the Houston shooting that took the life of Migos rapper Takeoff is now speaking out for the first time about the horrific incident.

In an interview with @khou11, Sydney Leday, 24, says it’s a miracle she’s alive. During the sit-down interview, she recalled the moments of the shooting and also shared her recovery journey.

More On Takeoff Before His Passing

Born Kirsnick Khari Ball, Takeoff was the youngest member of the Migos, the Grammy-nominated rap trio from suburban Atlanta that also featured his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset.

Leday was among several people who attended a private birthday party at 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley in Houston late last year. Migos rapper Takeoff and Quavo were also in attendance. Toward the end of the event, around 2:30 a.m., she noticed something was wrong. She said she saw Quavo get upset during a dice game. While she initially thought it was just a small back-and-forth argument, she knew something else was about to go down. Following the dispute between the people playing dice, things escalated and she started to run. However, shots were fired, and she was hit.

Leday fell to the ground and felt a stinging sensation in the back of her head. While in pain, she somehow made it down an escalator and into a friend’s car, who took her to the hospital. As the news site notes, Leday was in a coma and intubated before she woke up.

“I remember what happened because I was up the whole time after I got shot in the head and I called my mom and told her what happened and told her to come (to the hospital),” she said. “I was in the hospital for about a week. I didn’t really want to be there,” she said.

As traumatizing as her hospitalization was, she had a hard time recovering once she got out.

Leday, said when she returned home, she had a panic attack and didn’t have an appetite.
Leday said she replays the night in her head and feels terrible that other people were injured including Takeoff who sadly lost his life.

Takeoff was just 28 years old.

Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, was arrested and charged with murder. However, he was earlier released this month on $1 million bond.

Under conditions of his release, Clark is under house arrest, must wear a GPS tracking device and avoid contact with anyone involved in the shooting investigation.
