Nipsey Hussle Estate Settles ‘Marathon’ Battle With Crips

As we reported last year, the Nipsey Hussle estate has been battling the Crips for “The Marathon Continues” slogan; and now it appears the two parties have settled their beef, with the help of the late rapper’s brother Samiel Asghedom.

It’s reported that on Thursday (Mar. 25), Asghedom informed the courts in Los Angeles County in writing that the estate reached a settlement with Crips LLC. As we mentioned last year, Asghedom and his brother’s estate sued the gang’s corporate arm in October 2019 over the rights of the slogan — this after the Crips made their move in May to secure the rights.

Additionally, in the Hussle estate’s suit — which seeks monetary damages and a judgment directing the Crips to destroy any merchandise with the trademark — they claimed the Crips organization filed a trademark for the phrase less than 2 months after the rapper was slain outside his Marathon Clothing Store — this despite the rapper’s family already owning several “Marathon” trademarks, related to his infamous store.
