Officer Demetrius Haley Reportedly Sent Photos Of Tyre Nichols To Six People After Violent Assault

Demetrius Haley, one of the Memphis officers charged with Tyre Nichols’ murder, reportedly sent a photo of Nichols covered in blood and handcuffed to six people after the violent assault.

As stated in a state document, Haley confessed to taking two photos of Nichols on his personal cellphone, with Nichols propped up against a car because he couldn’t sit up on his own. According to the New York Post, the photos were sent to two other police officers, a civilian employee of the police department, and a female friend. A sixth person was not identified and was also shown disturbing images.

“On your personal cell phone, you took two photographs while standing in front of the obviously injured subject after he was handcuffed. In your Garrity statement, you admitted you shared the photo in a text message with five (5) people; one civilian employee, two MPD officers, and one female acquaintance.”

The Memphis Police Department submitted the photos to the state board to have the five officers,Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., Justin Smith, Demetrius Haley, and Tadarrius Bean, decertified and ineligible to work as police officers in Tennessee.

As previously reported, security footage shows the officers kicking, hitting, and pepper spraying Nichols before dragging him across the sidewalk. His body was placed against a patrol car until emergency medics arrived. An officer can be seen taking photos of Nicols in the camera footage. According to WREG, officers Smith and Haley did not turn on their body cameras, and Martin, Bean, and Mills took their body cameras off then placed them on another vehicle.

Social media reacts to Haley sending out the photos and questioned if the attack was allegedly planned

As more details unfold, social media users have questioned if Tyre Nichols was intentionally targeted since the photos of his assault were sentout to multiple people. Twitter user @Imposter_Edits wrote, “This is Memphis officer Demetrius Haley, one of the first 5 cops charged in the beating death of Tyre Nichols. After beating Tyre, Haley snapped some photos and sent them to at least 5 different people. Was this attack planed ahead of time or was he just proud of it??

There were rumors that the 29-year-old father had relationship with one of the officer’s girlfriend but these claims have been unfounded.
