Massachusetts Woman Unleashes Swarm Of Bees On Cops Serving An Eviction Notice; Several Cops Were Allergic

It is reported that on the morning of Wednesday, October 12, 55-year-old Rorie Susan Woods was confronted by several sheriff’s deputies from the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department.

The deputies arrived to a home in Longmeadow trying to serve an eviction notice to protesters. It is reported that the people protesting have been gathering on-and-off for two years, trying to prevent the eviction of Alton King Jr from his $1.5 million home.

It is also reported that Woods was among 21 people whose evictions were previously appealed by the Massachusetts Alliance of Against Predatory Lending to the State Supreme Judicial Court.

According to records from the Western Housing Court, King was served with a 72-hour notice to vacate the premises back in 2018. That is when a court battle ensued. Upon serving King with the aforementioned notice, at the time it was revealed that he owed $1.2 million on the property.

Now during the latest protest to prevent King’s eviction, Woods, who lives in Hadley, arrived to the home around 9:15 a.m. in a SUV, towing a trailer of bee hives.

Woods hopped out, put on a professional beekeeper suit to protect herself, then proceed to carry a tower of bees near the front door King’s home.

As deputies from the Sheriff’s Department tried to intervene, Woods went and shook the hives and broke the cover off, releasing hundreds of swarms of now-angry bees in the direction of the deputies. Unfortunately, several of them were allergic and were stung. Other bystanders were stung as well.

Woods was eventually handcuffed, arrested, and booked at the Western Massachusetts Regional Women’s Correctional Facility.

She has since been charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, three counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon and a disorderly conduct charge.

Hampden County Sheriff Nicholas Cocchi, who said the members of his Civil Process Division have routinely served eviction notices and understand how frustrating the proceedings can be to homeowners, spoke about the incident.

He said: “This woman, who traveled here, put lives in danger as several of the staff on scene are allergic to bees. We had one staff member go the hospital, and, luckily, he was all right or she could be facing manslaughter charges. I support people’s right to protest peacefully, but when you cross the line and put my staff and the public in danger, I promise you will be arrested.”
