After recording videos of driving around with a bees’ nest inside his car, a man went viral on Chinese social media.

The man, identified as Yao, said he would be rich since bees are a sign of good fortune in China, as reported by Oddity Central. Instead of exterminating the bees for good, he decided to drive around with the insects and record videos of his interactions with them. However, it is unclear how the insects entered his car or why they chose it as their home for a suitable nest.
The video was first recorded by a passenger in Yao’s vehicle who refuted the claims that the footage was fake since it attracted many viewers on Douyin. People who are reportedly familiar with the insects say that it isn’t unusual for them to build a nest in the springtime, and bees will form in a massive groups before finding a new home for their nest.

Some called the man a legend, while others refused to consider spending an entire day with a swarm of bees.

The situation happened when a man was loading groceries into his car and noticed about 15,000 bees inside his car. He contacted the local fire department, and their job doesn’t usually involve getting rid of bees, but they had a colleague who was an expert in beekeeping.
“After blocking off the immediate area to ensure the safety of nearby shoppers, Las Cruces firefighters called upon the services of off-duty firefighter Jesse Johnson who, in his spare time, is a beekeeper. Johnson arrived with the proper tools for the trade—a hive kit, lemongrass oil, gloves, and proper attire—and was successful in removing the bees from the car and relocating them to a more suitable location.”
