Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Shooting Of 2 L.A. Deputies

Earlier this month a video went viral showing a man firing shots at two L.A. deputies sitting in a parked patrol car. The man was since arrested (in an unrelated carjacking case), and is now being charged with attempted murder in the shooting.

While he wasn’t due to appear in court until late October, on Wednesday (Sept. 30), 36-year-old Deonte Lee Murray, who has pleaded not guilty in the aforementioned carjacking case, was “suddenly ordered to court,” where the charges were read to him, along with a $6.15 million bail amount.

Murray is now facing two counts of “willful, deliberate, and premeditated attempted murder of a police officer and possession of a fireman by a felon” for the September 12 shooting of a 24-year-old male deputy and 31-year-old female deputy, who were parked at a Metro station in the Compton area. Both deputies have been released from the hospital after sustaining head wounds.
