Love To See It! Da Brat, 48, Reveals She’s Pregnant with her & Jesseca ‘Judy’ Harris-Dupart’s First Child: ‘I Thought It Wasn’t in the Cards for Me’

The entertainer announced that she is pregnant with her first child at age 48! In a sweet cover story for @PEOPLE, Da Brat opens up about expecting a baby with Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart and her experience so far: “It’s been quite a journey,” says Da Brat, who admits that her age, “there’s a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40.”
Da Brat explained that kids weren’t ever really a part of the plan. “I never thought I was going to have kids,” she says. “I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.” However, that all changed when she met her beautiful wife. “I started looking at life so differently,” says Da Brat. “I was like, I want a little me with you. Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally.”
As for wanting to carry the child, Da Brat, says initially she wasn’t really all in at first. “I was like, nothing’s gonna come out of me!” Harris-Dupart was able to convince her otherwise. “We had a little tug-o-war in the beginning…but I felt like she should have the experience,” says her wife. “She is so nurturing,” PEOPLE quotes. Da Brat was convinced and decided to take on the incredible journey.
However, before doing so the couple revealed that Judy suffered a miscarriage while trying to carry their baby first. Da Brat said, “I fell in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me.”
“Luckily,” she says, “we still had quite a few of her eggs left.” The couple chose an anonymous donor and is now 18 weeks pregnant. Speaking about her second trimester Da Brat says, “It’s just a blessing. I’m excited!” She’s also exhausted. “I don’t have any cravings or nausea,” she adds, “but I’m always sleepy. It’s crazy!”

Da Brat & Judy Dupart tied the Knot on 2/22/22: the wedding took place at the Horse Mansion in Georgia, according to People, and had 100 guests in attendance. Included in those guests was Jermaine Dupri, who escorted Brat down the aisle, along with Dupart’s brother Damon Dupart Sr.
Harris-Dupart is already a mother to three kids from her previous relationship. This will be Da Brat’s first.
