The singer died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires where he had been staying. An official cause of death has not been released. Local authorities suggested he might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. He reportedly fell from the balcony, sustaining fatal injuries, as reported by Page Six. Sources told the outlet exclusively that he had been “cycling through periods of ruinous behavior for a long time.” They also said, “his demons were much worse than he let on.”

Payne was open about his struggles but reportedly downplayed the severity of his situation. Hours before his death, he posted a Snapchat video showing himself enjoying a “lovely day in Argentina.”However, other sources claim that the footage is likely old because his girlfriend had already returned to Florida earlier in the week, as confirmed by her TikTok. Fans around the world were stunned by his sudden passing, and those in Buenos Aires gathered at the scene.
