Oop! Latto, 27, appears to be reacting to the “internet debating ‘bout her race” again after she and her sister Brooklyn Nikole, 24, recently showed off their grandmother’s family farm land.

On Friday (September 18), Brooklyn posted a video to her TikTok. She captioned the post, “🤠 🤠 🤠 @Latto #farmlife.” The four-minute video opened with Brooklyn telling social media they were on their grandma’s farm. Brooklyn sat next to Latto as she drove a golf cart across the green grassy acres. The two then began jokingly using a strong country accent while describing their actions on the farm and details about it.
While the post was meant to be fun and show off their goofy personalities, social media users began slamming the sisters. Users were again debating about their mixed race and even speculating about their grandmother and unconfirmed, alleged ties to slavery.
Latto ended up reacting to the drama online. She simply posted a screenshot of some lyrics. They were from KARRAHBOO‘s song “INSIDE THE BOOTH.” The lyrics read, “They sit on the internet debating ’bout my race (Not that).”
Latto Reveals What She Is Mixed With: ‘Black, White, Indian, Irish, German’
Now, as Latto mentioned, this isn’t the first time her race has been questioned or debated upon. The rapper, who was born Alyssa Michelle Stephens and first came into the rap game as “Mulatto” (a derogatory, slavery-centered term for a White and Black person). While she is originally from Columbus, Ohio, Latto was raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
Furthermore, Latto was born to a Caucasian mother, Misti Jane Stephens, and an African-American father, Shayne William Pitts. In a tweet from June 8, 2014, Latto answered fans wanting to know what she is mixed with. She replied, “Black, White, Indian, Irish, and German.” In a tweet from July 31, 2012, she also claimed Welsh ancestry. However, that post has since been deleted.
