As we previously shared, on Saturday (June 13), the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs to win the NBA title. During Game 5, the Knicks beat the Spurs 94-90. The nail-biting game let everyone coast-to-coast on the edge of their seats, screaming at their TVs, and for Knicks fans, screaming for joy at the final buzzer.

One of those people loudly rejoicing in their homes was Marie Marseille, a nurse and die-hard New York sports fan. She was inside her Canoga Park apartment as she celebrated the Knicks winning their first NBA championship in 53 years. Her beloved Golden Saint Berdoodle, Jameson, was right there with her. She even dressed him up for the big night, sporting his very own Knicks jersey.

However, the joyous moment quickly turned dark after a neighbor called 911 to report a woman loudly screaming and repeatedly shouting, “Oh my God.” Body camera footage now shows the details that lead up to the fatal shooting after video has gone viral showing the aftermath.

When police arrived to the scene, two officers knocked on the Marie’s door, which she opened with Jameson at her side. The officers asked her to put the dog up. She pushed Jameson back inside and closed the door. Seconds later, she reopened the door and Jameson snuck out the door, barking and walking toward one of the officers. That officer began retreating while withdrawing his service weapon to fatally shoot the dog.

Since the incident, the LAPD has released an official statement and a day later, they released body cam footage.

“On June 13, 2026, at around 8:55 p.m., Topanga Patrol Division police officers responded to a radio call for a “Screaming Woman” inside of an apartment unit, located in the 7500 block of Jordan Avenue.

The officers met with the person reporting (PR) who directed the officers to the apartment unit. The officers contacted the resident in the apartment unit; while speaking with the resident, a large dog was by her side barking at the officers. The officers asked her to secure the dog, and the resident closed her door momentarily. She re-opened the door, and the dog exited the apartment. Once outside of the apartment, the dog charged at one of the officers, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS).

The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services was notified, responded to the scene, and took custody of the deceased dog. The dog owner was at scene and cooperated with the investigation. Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident. No community members or officers were injured as a result of this incident.”
