The lawyer of an LAPD officer who was killed during training says he was investigating a case involving his colleagues for alleged gang rape.

Houston Tipping,32, suffered from a fatal spinal cord injury after holding another police officer during a “bear hug” trapping exercise on May 26. He later died from his injuries, and the medical examiner ruled his death an accident. Still, Tipping’s lawyer believes his fellow officers killed him since he was investigating a sexual assault case involving the four men. Ten months before his death, Tipping wrote a report about his findings, and one of the officers involved was present when he passed away, as reported by the Daily Mail.
‘In July 2021, four police officers were involved in the sexual assault of a woman in the Los Angeles area. A report was taken by Officer Tipping, and I have seen that report that reported the case that there was a sexual attack, and it indicates that an object was placed into the sexual organ of the female victim. The female victim claims that she was raped by four different people, all LAPD officers. She knew the names of some of those officers because they were in uniform and they had their name tags on. The name of one of those officers, the name tag seems to correlate with one of the officers that were at the training.’
The five-year veteran’s mother said in her lawsuit against the Los Angeles Police Department that Tipping was repeatedly struck in the head until ‘he bled’ during the training exercise. Her attorney, Brad Gage, said the autopsy report claimed Tipping suffered broken ribs from a CPR machine, but other medical words said the machine was never used to revive him.
LAPD officials said their report that officers performed CPR in an attempt to save Tipping, and he was transported to the USC Medical Center where he died from his injuries three days later.

Gage believes the police officers allegedly involved retaliated due to the investigation and plotted to harm Tipping during the training exercise at the police academy.
‘I think the officers were very brazen and thought they were above the law but no one is above the law. I’m sure these actions are being covered up. The thought of a code of silence or a cover-up by a police department should not be shocking or surprising to anyone.’
Before his death, Tipping used to patrol the Devonshire neighborhood of Los Angeles and enjoyed serving as a police officer. He was also an organ donor and dedicated his life to saving lives.
