Kim Kardashian has broken her silence on the controversy surrounding Balenciaga and its recent marketing campaign involving BDSM teddy bears and children.

After almost a week of facing backlash from the public not speaking out against the fashion house’s ads, Kim Kardashian released a statement on her social media platforms to address her stance. She writes, “I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been shocked and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened.”

The mother of four also says the safety of children must be held in the highest regard and was “shaken by those disturbing images.” She noted she was satisfied with Balenciaga’s decision to remove the ads after having a meeting about the campaigns with the brand’s team.

“As a mother of four, I have been shaken by those disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and anything against it should have no place in our society — period. chat, I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology. In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again.”
According to TMZ, Balenciaga has reportedly placed blame on the set designer and production company headlining the campain and has filed a lawsuit of $25 million. The company faced backlash over child models in suggestive poses next to teddy bears in dominatrix-esque outfits and other BDSM attire.
The campaign’s photographer also spoke out against the campaign and said he didn’t have any control over the overall set direction and Baleniaga also stated thay had no idea about the items being used. Although fans speculated that Kim Kardashian was going to cut herself off from the brand, it appeats she only had a meeting with them to see what happened behind the scenes.
After she released her statement, fans continued to question why Balenciaga continued to blame the photographer instead of allegedly taking accountability.
