Kevin Hart is giving fans an update on his good friend Jamie Foxx’s health following his medical emergency.
The stand-up comedian recently appeared on an episode of the “Impaulsive” podcast and shared that Foxx, who was hospitalized after suffering what his daughter Corinne described as a “medical complication” in April, has been recovering and improving.
Hart told podcast hosts Mike Majlak and Logan Paul, “I think the dope thing is that he’s getting better in his situation, and everybody’s prayers, everybody’s love, energy, all that stuff is seen and felt,” Hart said. “So in this case, man, you just want the guy to get out of the situation and then get back home.” He went on to say,
“I don’t know the details, or the exact details, as to what’s going on, but to my knowledge, there’s a lot of progression and a world of better,” he continued, adding that Foxx is “needed” and “necessary.” Hart concluded by sending “love, synergy, energy” while wishing him a speedy recovery.
Earlier this week, Foxx spoke out for the first time to let his supporters know that he is doing ok. He said in an Instgram post on Wednesday, “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed.”

More On What Happened To Jamie Foxx
On April 12, 2023, Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne Foxx issued a statement on her Instagram. “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” the statement read. “Luckily, due to quick action and care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.” While no further details were shared at the time, a source “with direct knowledge” told TMZ that Foxx had experienced a “medical emergency” and was taken to a local hospital.
On April 21, 2023, a source told PEOPLE that Foxx is “okay” but still reminded hospitalized. “He’s OK, thank God,” the source said. “He’s still in the hospital and doctors are running tests but he’s awake and alert. They’re keeping him under observation.”
Jamie Foxx was in the middle of filming in Atlanta for his Netflix movie Back in Action around the time of his medical emergency. Since then a stunt double has filled in as his replacement.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Nick Cannon will be taking over Foxx’s hosting duties for “Beat Shazam” — the interactive game show — while he recovers. While speaking about the gig, Cannon showed love to Foxx and said Thursday on his “Daily Cannon” radio show that “there would be no Nick Cannon if it wasn’t for Jamie Foxx.”
“I love this brother and in a real family-type way, man,” Cannon said. “He looked out for me when I didn’t have a place to sleep as a teenager. This brother let me sleep on his couch. Shout out to DeOndra, his sister … I am expecting that my brother is gonna just recover fully.”
