Johnny Depp’s Lawyers Expected To Grill Amber Heard About Her Past ‘Abusive’ Relationship After She Fumbled Her Testimony

Amber Heard has seemingly helped Johnny Depp’s legal team score a major victory in the couple’s ongoing $100 million defamation court case after she testified last week and made a certain statement about her ex-husband’s relationship with model Kate Moss. When Amber took to the stand last week, she recalled an incident where she and Johnny had been arguing and her sister, Whitney, tried to diffuse the situation. The Pirates of the Caribbean star was then alleged to have turned his attention to Whitney, who was standing near a staircase, and supposedly made a motion as if he was going to push her down a flight of stairs.

“She threw herself in the line of fire,” a weeping Amber told the jury, admitting that she hit Johnny because she became fearful of what he was going to do to her sibling as Kate crossed her mind. “She was trying to get Johnny to stop. Her back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her. I don’t hesitate and wait — I instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs.” Kate dated Johnny back in the ’90s, and according to Amber’s deposition, there had been rumors that he once pushed the model down the stairs — a claim he has vehemently denied.

When Kate was brought up to the jury, Johnny’s team was seen bumping fists during court, which, according to OK! Magazine, could be for multiple reasons. Firstly, Kate has never confirmed allegations that Johnny had ever laid hands on her. But more importantly, Amber asserting that Kate and Johnny shared an abusive relationship has opened the doors for his legal team to go after her and ask questions about her 2009 arrest when the Aquaman star was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting and striking her ex-girlfriend Tasya van Ree at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington.

What Has Kate Said About Her Ex Johnny Depp?

Meanwhile, Kate previously touched on her former relationship with Johnny, whom she dated between 1992 and 1994, in an interview with Vanity Fair, where she said, “There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. Like if I said, ‘What do I do?’ he’d tell me.”

The trial is currently on hiatus while Judge Penney Azcarate attends a previous engagement at a conference between May 9 and May 12, which means that fans won’t see Amber and Johnny back in court until Monday, May 16. Amber will continue to give her testimony at the start of next week before the case concludes on Thursday, May 19, after six weeks of arguments.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Johnny has said that Amber has given “the performance of her life” and implied that she has not been able to recount her stories because they keep changing. “While Ms. Heard’s stories have continued to grow new and convenient details, Mr. Depp’s recollections have remained the same throughout the six painful years since her first allegations were made,” they said.

“The upcoming cross-examination from Mr. Depp’s team will be most telling, and will certainly highlight the many fallacies Ms. Heard has now attempted to pass off as fact throughout her convoluted testimony.”
