Amber Heard has been accused of punching, spitting, and throwing a can of Red Bull at her ex-husband Johnny Depp during one of their disputes back in March 2015, security guard Travis McGivern told the jury on Monday. Travis, who was appointed to work at the couple’s Los Angeles penthouse, testified in the $100 million trial after Johnny sued his former flame, saying she falsely accused him of being an abuser in her 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Amber countersued for double the amount, arguing that she never mentioned his name in the written piece.
But during the latest court session on Monday at Fairfax, Virginia, Travis took to the stand to give his testimony on what he witnessed during the time Amber and Johnny were together, and judging by his words, the relationship appeared to have been very volatile. He recalled one particular incident where the two had gotten into a quarrel, resulting in the actress spitting on the father-of-two, just one month after tying the knot in February 2015. Though he struggled to remember how the argument ensued, he did recollect hearing a screaming Amber telling Johnny, “’You’re a f****** washed up.’ Mr. Depp was giving as good as he got at that point.”

Travis was asked to clarify what he meant by this comment, to which he responded, saying he was referring to verbal and not physical abuse. After their intense showdown, the Aquaman star left the penthouse, during which time Johnny began to “rearrange” her wardrobe, taking down all of her clothes and shoes. When Amber eventually returned to the property, she was “agitated” that all of her belongings had been thrown on the ground, leading to another heated argument. “At that point, out of the corner of my eye, I see a fist and an arm come across my right shoulder, and I heard, and I saw a closed fist contact Mr. Depp in the left side of his face,” the security guard told the jury.

Travis instructed his boss to leave the penthouse immediately after noticing he had suffered a black eye from the punch from Amber, and given how violent the day had already been for the pair, he wanted Johnny separated from his wife in case things continued to escalate. “I let him get hit by a Red Bull can. I let him get punched,” he added. “My job is to ensure the safety and well-being of my clients, and I felt like I hadn’t done that.”
Travis expressed that the chaotic fight wasn’t unusual for the ex-couple, who allegedly fought a lot throughout their short-lived marriage, admitting that the two of them both verbally abused one another on many occasions. However, he couldn’t explain what usually led to the back-and-forth.
He also denied Amber’s claims that the only reason Amber punched Johnny was that he had put his hands on her sister, Whitney Heard. Travis stressed that the Pirates of the Caribbean star did not engage with his wife’s sibling.
