Despite an active Black consumer boycott against Target, JAY-Z has opted to partnership with the megastore to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his hit album ‘Reasonable Doubt.’
As part of the partnership, labeled, “JAŸ-Z30,” the rapper, born Shawn Carter, will exclusively release special vinyls, CDs, and cassettes for his June 1996 album in Target stores and online on Friday, June 26.
On a webpage dedicated to Target and JAY-Z’s collaboration, the retailer promotes four different products marking 30 years of ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ Currently, for pre-order (which reportedly opened on June 1) are: two two-pack special edition vinyls, both sets priced at $40; a CD, priced at $14; and a cassette tape, priced at $20.
JAY-Z Collaborates With Target For Exclusive Drop Celebrating 30th Anniversary Of ‘Reasonable Doubt’
For the first/main Target exclusive vinyl, the retailer shares, “In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, JAY-Z’s groundbreaking debut album, this exclusive 30th Anniversary Edition honors the album’s legacy while offering fans and collectors a unique experience.”
According to Target, the release is being issued through Hov’s S Carter Enterprises LLC/Roc Nation Distribution. Now, JAY-Z and Target’s new partnership arrives amid an active boycott — namely launched by Black consumers — on the retailer after it controversially dropped its DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) program immediately following a loud cry from President Donald Trump.
