It’s been quite the year for Chloe Bailey, who recently wrapped up her In Pieces Tour, in support of her debut album, which she dropped back in late March. And despite her busy schedule, the 24-year-old managed to pop by REVOLT’s “The Jason Lee Show” for a candid chat with HU Founder Jason Lee.
The timing couldn’t have been better considering how many headlines Bailey has made in recent months: from her dating life to fans blaming Beyonce that her album didn’t perform better on the charts.

As you’ll probably recall, we posted a story last month about the backlash that came Bey’s way from social media users who felt the “Cuff It” singer had done very little to support her protege’s first project. And while others argued that nobody really knows what Beyonce did for Bailey — particularly behind the scenes — some stressed that a simple IG shoutout could’ve already been enough to at least acknowledge the album being out.
“In Pieces” went on to sell 11,000 copies in its first week and made its debut at No. 119 on Billboard’s Hot 200. But despite the criticism that came her way, Bailey powered through and kept her head held high as she embarked on a sold-out tour, which held its final show in LA on May 3.
When asked on whether she felt bad after seeing how Beyonce was dragged online for her supposed lack of public support, Bailey responded, telling Lee, “She’s one of the most incredible human beings; I never want her to be attacked.
“And then attacked on anything with me involved, of course. That’s never fun.” She also touched on her album sales, saying that instead of letting the negativity break her down, she isn’t going to let the nay-sayers stop her to keep going. “I was like, ‘I don’t really give two craps about numbers,'” she added.
Elsewhere, the “Body Do” hitmaker also addressed the rumors that were circulating last year about her alleged romance with rapper Gunna.
The two were frequently spotted out and about last summer, but neither ever confirmed nor denied rumors that they may have been quietly dating one another. Given that Bailey was very much still working on her album at the time, it was only right that Lee would quiz her on whether any of the songs on the record were inspired by Gunna at all.
But Bailey laughingly said there weren’t any tracks that she wrote with Gunna in mind, prompting Lee to ask her why she chooses to be so private about her dating life. “Well, when I feel like I find that person…” Bailey replied.
