Last night all the stars in Hollywood came out to celebrate a special screening of House Party at the TCL Chinese Theater ahead of the film’s release on January 13. In attendance included the film’s stars as well as notable figure such as Mark Cuban, Tinashe, Karrueche, and the legends from the 1990 House Party Kid ‘n Play (a.k.a. Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin.
The highly anticipated House Party follows aspiring club promoters Damon and Kevin, who are struggling to keep ends meet. Out of money, down on their luck and about to lose the roofs over their heads, they need a huge break to make their problems go away. They soon decide to host the party of the year at an exclusive mansion, which just happens to belong to none other than NBA superstar LeBron James. What could go wrong? A lot, but this is their journey!
While some are looking at today’s House Party as a remake of the 90’s classic, the film should stand alone as a representation of its time. Warner Bros’ House Party is its own film, with it own flare, memorable moments and laughs. It reflects the social media generation and mirrors some of the house parties you might find yourself at in Los Angles, intertwined with celebrities. House Party is a product of its time and is undeniably hilarious and full of A list favorites. While it lives up to its predecessor, House Party is definitely one of the funniest films of 2023 and needs to be celebrated in its own right.
